Sir Hans Sloane, 1st Baronet was an Anglo-Irish physician, naturalist, and collector. He had a collection of 71,000 items which he bequeathed to the British nation, thus providing the foundation of the British Museum, the British Library, and the Natural History Museum, London. |

| Botanical art and photography from around the world are shown at Saatchi Gallery this summer as the annual RHS exhibition returns for a sixth year. Staged across three galleries, the best in contemporary botanical art and photography is presented by exhibitors from across the world. This year sees former medal winners returning alongside first-time exhibitors. |

The Circle of Life is the only significant embroidery created using Opus Anglicanum techniques in over 500 years. The project was conceived by the Worshipful Company of Upholders and was unveiled at the Guildhall in the City of London in July 2026, at an event to mark the 400th anniversary of the grant of the Livery Company’s Royal Charter. The work has been completed by a team of 107 volunteers, stitching for more than a year in 12 English Cathedrals, plus one prison. The design is by iconographer Aidan Hart, the training, project management and implementation was undertaken by the Royal School of Needlework. |

An outdoor exhibition on St Peters Hill telling the stories of
these people captured in paintings and photographs. The oldest photo is
of William Anthony, a night watchman, taken shortly before he died in
1863, with the most modern being a young man working in a Southwark shoe
factory in 1954 There’s the disabled street musician, a lot of ladies selling wares from baskets, reminding us of life before high street retailers, and people ranging from women working in factories to grand officials in fine, often handed-down, robes. While many of these images from the London Archive are staged by artists and photographers, they give us an idea of the lives of working Londoners through history. |
